Driver Qualifications at a Glance:
- Be at least 23 years old
- Have six months recent
verifiable tractor trailer
experience - Have a valid class (A) CDL
- Meet DOT requirements
- Pass a company physical,
including substance screening - No DWI/DUI convictions (last 5
years) - No more then 3 moving
violations in 36 months - No major violations in 36

Per Diem Pay
Metropolitan offers a Per Diem
Allowance Program to increase the net
amount of pay you take home. Drivers
have the option to participate in the
program. Participating drivers receive
more take-home pay and pay less in
taxes.
Referral Bonus
Earn an extra $750.00 for every
experienced driver you refer and is
hired.
Loading and Unloading
When a hand load or unload is
required drivers are paid $50.
Typically, fewer than 5 percent of the
loads require hand loading or
unloading. When partial hand load or
unload is required, drivers are paid
$35.
On Duty Breakdown Pay
After four (4) hours out-of-service due
to breakdown, compensation is paid.
Drivers receive $10 per hour (after 4
hours) maximum of $100 per day. To
be eligible for this pay, the breakdown
must not have been caused by driver
abuse and the driver cannot decline
alternate equipment.
Detention Pay
Drivers will be paid for the actual time
they are delayed by a customer.
Drivers receive $15 per hour after two
hours at a shipper, stop off, or receiver.
Layover
After 24 hours away from home waiting
for a load, layover pay is earned.
Drivers receive $45 for each 24-hour
period.
Stop-offs
Stop-offs refer to extra pick-ups and/or
drops after the first customer location.
Drivers are paid $20 for each stop-off.
Safety Bonus
Drivers will be paid a quarterly bonus
for meeting safety standards.
Hazardous Material Premium
Drivers will be paid an additional $0.03
per mile for all miles while under a Haz
Mat load.
Holiday Pay
Drivers will be paid an additional $55
per day for six (6) holidays: New Year’s
Day, Memorial Day,
4 th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving
Day, Christmas Day. Eligibility after 90
days of employment.
Vacation
◊ After one (1) year - 1 Week
◊ After three (3) years - 2 Weeks
◊ After ten (10) years - 3 Weeks
